the power of habit

On this blog, I share a lot of things that successful people do.

Today we are taking a different angle.

We are going to look at what unsuccessful people do.

So looking at the actions of people getting the results that you don't want is what today is all about.

“How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated

the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must

be the truth?”-Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes said that if you remove all the things that won't get you to the truth you will be left with the truth.

success leaves clues

So with that in mind ask yourself the following:

What will not get you wealthy?

What will not get you healthy?

What will not get you the relationships you want?

What will not make you happy?

What are the obvious answers to those questions?

  • Being untrustworthy.

Are you someone that family, friends, and co-workers can trust?

Can people trust you and confide in you?

Or are you someone that stabs people in the back?

If I have to choose one thing for being the worse for your reputation then I must choose untrustworthiness.

Once you start building a reputation for being someone that cannot be trusted it's very hard to reverse that.

If you have made some mistakes in the past then you still have time to turn around the ship.

But only if you promise yourself to never walk down that path again.

Instead, start building inner strength and get a reputation as someone that can be trusted with anything.

  • Being a procrastinator.

Are you sleeping too much and wasting time every day?

Are you wasting your days, weeks, months, and years away?

Are you constantly making excuses as to why you never do what you say you are going to do?

  • Being unreliable.

Will you get things done when nobody is observing you.

Are you someone that has a reputation for being a rock and someone that people can rely on?

Or are you someone that people don't even think about when they consider someone to help them or assist them?

Will you be there when someone in your life needs you?

These are questions you must answer.

  • Bad communication.

Are you able to clearly and confidently express yourself?

Communication is one of the most important skills a man can have.

Communication in terms of professional, business, relationship, and dating success is the most important skill to excel.

If you can't communicate value you will lose.

Whether expressing yourself in the spoken word or writing, you must master communication.

  • Not knowing yourself.

This is the inability to ask yourself questions.

Examples of those questions could be the following:

Do you want to have a family?

Are you an extrovert or introvert?

Do you like working alone or in groups?

The bottom line is this:

If you don't know what you really want then how can you go anywhere in life and be happy?

  • The fear of failing.

Do you get paralysed by fear that keeps you from achieving things in life?

Fear is the strongest natural impulse humans have.

It's an ancient emotion that helped us survive in times when our lives were constantly in danger.

Our environments have changed and mostly we are relatively safe.

Unfortunately the fear response is still strong in the human brain.

And if you don't learn how to master fear then it can limit or destroy your life.

  • Always looking for a shortcuts.

Do you look for the easy way out instead of doing what has to be done?

A natural human tendency is to choose the path of least resistance.

In other words, we like the easy way out.

Unfortunately the easy way out is most of the time not the right way out.

If you constantly choose comfort over what must be done you will lose in this game of life.

  • Self Doubt.

Do you constantly second guess yourself and have low self-esteem?

Self-doubt is something that is very common in society.

People don't like themselves.

People dont trust themselves.

And therefore people have very low self-confidence.

It seems like this problem is getting worse.

And the reason for this is that modern society has moved away from studying, working, and maintaining their own minds.

The reality is that if you don't control your own mind then someone else will.

  • Negative mental environment.

Have you allowed your mental environment to get polluted by outside influences.

A lot of people don't realize how important the environment that they spend most of their time in is for their own mental health.

If you allow your mind to constantly be influenced and polluted then you will see the negative effects in your life.

Remember your mind is extremely fertile, and any seeds that get planted will grow.

So you must pull out the weeds or pay the price.

  • Excuses.

Are you constantly making excuses for your shortcomings and failures.

Are you a person that is known to always have an excuse for why you didn't do something instead of taking responsibility for your actions?

Are you someone that just walks the walk?

Or are you someone that just talks the talk?

Stop making excuses and start taking action in life.

  • Waiting for perfect timing.

Do you constantly delay and tell yourself you will wait for some magical future time when you will finally take action?

Are you waiting for some fictional perfect time in the future?

The reality is that the best time for you to start doing something was yesterday.

The second best time to start doing something is right now. So stop talking and start doing.

Take action!

Conclusion

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions then your road map to whatever it is you want to get in life is clear.

Change those things and logic tells us that you will start to change the world you live in.

But as always it's easier said than done.

And I will end this article the same way as I do many others.

You have to take action and do the work.
