It's easy to be good when things are easy, but when things are going bad what are you going to do?
When life gets hard how do you react?
We all go through times where things turn bad very quickly.
We are cornered and don't see a way out.
These are the times that we all have to face.
At some stage we need to fight our way back through adversity.
The truth about bad times is that many times we bring it on ourselves.
Bad choices made consistently lead to dark times.
Sometimes the bad times will come back until we learn our lesson.
We get hit on the head until we finally learn that lesson.
Or maybe bad stuff just happened. It's just the way life goes sometimes.
Life comes at you fast, and the quicker you learn that lesson, the better.
But for now, let's talk about getting through these testing times.
It's easy to go into a downward spiral of thinking.
One negative thought about your current situation leads to another negative thought.
This type of negative thinking builds momentum, and before you know it, you find yourself in a depression.
Many guys turn to alcohol or drugs. It's easy to look for an escape.
I have been there and done that.
It doesn't work.
When you get down from the high, your problem still exists.
Unfortunately, this drives a lot of guys to the edge; some even commit suicide.
Here is the thing:
There is no easy way out.
Forget about looking for an easy way out.
There isn't one.
When life gets hard you need to focus.
Getting out or recovering from whatever situation you find yourself in is a process and you have to accept it.
The first thing is just accepting your current situation, accept it!
If you don't accept your situation, you will just dig a deeper hole for yourself and make it harder to recover and come back into the light.
You are in it now, and no amount of wishing or drinking is going to change it.
Once you accepted your current situation, you can start changing things.
After accepting your situation, you can start fighting back against whatever life is throwing at you.
You have to find something inside you to drive yourself forward.
It could be a goal, your family, pride or just anger.
Find whatever you can inside yourself to motivate yourself to get up and start punching back against this thing life is throwing at you.
Then start taking action.
Firstly get up from wherever you are and take a deep breath.
You can get through this thing.
Get a pen and a paper and write down what you need to do to change your situation.
Then make a list of the steps you need to take to achieve the outcome you are looking for.
Then start executing on that list.
Keep it simple, start filling your mind with positive thinking about the future and start executing on that list.
You need to take action, that is the only thing that is going to change your current situation.
This action includes your mindset. You need to reclaim the space in your mind that has been occupied by negative thinking.
Negative thinking becomes a habit. For you to get your life back on track, you need to start consciously noticing when you start thinking negatively and stop yourself.
Yes, it's not easy, but its possible.
You think so you might as well choose to think positively when life gets hard.
Now it's up to you, to get up and start fighting.
You might feel motivated and fired up for a day or two to start taking control of your life, but this boost of energy is going to fade.
The question is what are you going to do when it does fade.
Are you going to give up when life gets hard?
Or are you going to take a deep breath and realize that you are in a fight and start punching back again?
