People like to avoid the topic of power.
A lot of people dont want to talk about it because they have been told that power is bad, that power is corrupt.
This is false.
The people who believe this was taught this lie by people who want power.
These power-seekers want power only for themselves.
Their goal of power is to control other people.
So their goals are not my goals.
“Understand: people will constantly attack you in life. One of their main weapons will be to instill in you doubts about yourself – your worth, your abilities, your potential. They will often disguise this as their objective opinion, but invariably it has a political purpose – they want to keep you down “
– The 50th Law – 50 Cent and Robert Greene
“When you show yourself to the world and display your talents, you naturally stir all kinds of resentment, envy, and other manifestations of insecurity… you cannot spend your life worrying about the petty feelings of others”
-Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power
“Be wary of friends—they will betray you more quickly, for they are easily aroused to envy. They also become spoiled and tyrannical. But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend, because he has more to prove. In fact, you have more to fear from friends than from enemies. If you have no enemies, find a way to make them.”
― Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power
“Few are born bold. Even Napoleon had to cultivate the habit on the battlefield, where he knew it was a matter of life and death. In social settings, he was awkward and timid, but he overcame this and practice boldness in every part of his life because he saw its tremendous power, how it could literally enlarge a man(even one who, like Napoleon, was in fact conspicuously small).”
― Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power
I approach power from the perspective of the warrior.
The warrior approaches power from different levels of power.
The ultimate objective of power for the warrior is to defend his right to live his own life, freedom, sovereignty, and self-defense.
Power does not get approached by the warrior in the same way as the majority of people in the world.
Power for the warrior is first to conquer his own mind, to defend himself and the people he cares about, and to build wealth to create freedom.
The warrior is aware of the reality of this planet.
He knows there are wolves who seek power for objectives that is in direct conflict with his objectives.
Therefore he knows that he must master himself and his mind first.
This is the only way to overcome the power of these societal forces that oppose him.
The warrior knows there are levels of power.
And the hights level is that of the mind.
Mind Power
True warriors know that mind mastery is a lifelong process.
He also knows that this path is one that very few will undertake.
Very few will go into the frontier of the mind and try and overcome the ebb and flow of the mind.
The mind is like a vast ocean with a lot of uncertainty and challenges.
When you start working on your mind it will be chaotic and will seem like it's impossible to overcome.
But with consistent work, perseverance, and discipline the mind will start calming down.
You will notice improvements and the first level of control.
The first level will give you a glimpse into the shadows and light of the mind.
This challenge will be your biggest challenge.
The mind will test you like no external force ever will.
It will force you to face your past in order for you to make any progress.
You can't hide on this journey.
If you try and hide you will be defeated and you will give up.
This journey is a process that only those who decided to live with a warrior mindset choose to undertake.
But to have true power in life you must undertake this challenge.
Physical Power.
A big part of being effective as a man is having physical power.
However, there are several parts to having physical power and all of them connect to mind power.
The first is the obvious one of physical strength.
That means your ability to lift, push, run, jump, and all the other physical challenges that the world throws at you.
You should prepare your body for any challenges that life throws at you.
And you must build your body to overcome and excel in any task life give you.
Then there is another aspect to physical power and that is your ability to use your body as a weapon.
In other words your fighting skill.
Do you have any knowledge and training on how to fight and survive?
This is a crucial part of physical power that you must have to excel and thrive in life.
Knowledge Power
Are you educated?
And I dont mean formal education.
If you have formal education like college or university then great, but that is not what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about having knowledge in the important areas of life.
And in this case, I'm talking about having good foundational knowledge in the understanding and application of power.
In other words, do you understand the strategy and basic human psychology?
This is a key part of power.
There is obviously a wide range of books to study and you won't have time to read it all.
A good idea is to understand the core principles of human psychology and power.
And there are 5 important books to read:
Reading these 5 books will give you a very solid understanding of human nature and the strategy of the human-animal.
Of course, there are many other books that I highly recommend, but these 5 books are a must if you want to understand human nature at a high level.
Conclusion
A lot of people resist studying these topics because they think that only people who are hungry for power study these subjects.
This is a big mistake because even if you are not interested in acquiring power there are people who do.
And these people will use power against you.
And if you dont know how power works then you will be the victim of power.
The so-called dark triad of psychology is a reality.
And understanding these fields of psychology and power is key for you to survive and excel on this planet.
So take responsibility for this part of being an effective man and start studying today.
